Julie Brown
Wellington Support, Registered Manager

My name is Julie Brown and I am the Registered Manager for Wellington Support covering Northamptonshire.

For the past 5 years, I have been a deputy manager for a residential care home in Northampton. The service was acquired by the National Care Group and I have been lucky enough to progress to Registered Manager within the business.

I am responsible for 11 supported living properties, 8 in Northampton and 3 in Kettering. The Individual’s we support at these properties have mainly a mental health diagnosis.

Wellington Support is nestled in beautiful Northamptonshire. We predominantly provide support to adults with Mental Health needs, Learning Disabilities and other complex needs. Our support is provided in a mixture of locations across Northampton and Kettering ranging from small, homely three bed shared accommodation to clusters of self-contained flats. Staff support is provided 24 hours per day.

Wellington Support focusses on individualised packages of support to enable people to safely reach out towards their goals of achieving and sustaining their level of independence, this is through community inclusion and partnership working closely with community teams from the NHS and other organisations.

Days are spent supporting people to learn new skills or to find motivation to regain lost skills. This may be shopping, cooking, budgeting and other daily living skills. Our staff also support to attend to community responsibilities, such as medical appointments, attending college or voluntary positions or maybe just popping to town for window shopping and a cuppa. When not out and about staff are on hand for chats and advice to help when times become challenging.

Staff at Wellington Support are proud of the achievements that the people they support have achieved, such as entering full-time employment, passing their driving test, and moving on to independent living.

Wendy Khan

Registered Manager
Phoenix House | Ryecroft Apartments | Primrose House

Wendy started her career in healthcare as a Registered General Nurse and worked in numerous specialities including gynaecology. She then made the decision to change the focus of her nursing career and completed her Registered Mental Health nurse training.

Following qualification, she worked in numerous mental health settings including medium secure. Low secure and locked rehabilitation. Initially working as a staff nurse, she progressed her career to Charge Nurse, Clinical Services Manager and finally Hospital Director. During her career, she completed diplomas in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Health Services Management.

Whilst working as Hospital Director, she had overall responsibility of the services she managed,. In 2013, she was asked to manage a failing low secure service. This challenge she embraced and after much hard work, the service was turned around, becoming good with the CQC. In 2015 Wendy was asked to manage the opening of a 32 bedded locked rehabilitation service. When she left in 2016, the service was registered with the CQC, fully staffed and had good occupancy.

Wendy moved to managing the services at Stepping Stones in 2016 and since that time has used her passion for caring with people with complex mental health needs to ensure that the services she manages are quality services, providing excellent care to the Individuals we support whilst maximising their independence.
